In Ontario, 30 million trees a year used to be planted on rural, private lands in the province. In the 1990s, this dropped to a low of only 2 million. Experts tell us that in order to achieve 30 percent forest cover and a healthy ecosystem, we need to plant over a billion more trees.
Trees Ontario, a non-profit committed to the re-greening of Ontario through treeplanting, and CAA South Central Ontario, are together hosting an Annual Community Planting Weekend.
The community treeplanting events will take place in the following locations:

Anyone can get involved in this unique event. All you need to bring is a shovel, gardening gloves and lots of energy! CAA South Central Ontario and Trees Ontario will supply the trees, the forestry specialists and mulch – plus snacks! Participants are encouraged to wear appropriate clothing, sturdy shoes (steel toe if possible), and bring a hat and/or sunscreen.
These events are open to the public, however space is limited and pre-registration is appreciated. Parking will be available.
